Abstract:
This paper takes an empirical approach to the Argentine labor market dynamics for the period 2003-2012, focusing on informal employment. It attempts to determine whether there is dependency between the occupational status of people in a given moment and their future probability of accessing formal employment. It was found that those previously in informal jobs are less likely than formal workers, and as likely as unemployed individuals, to access formal jobs. Also, increases in the unemployment rate decrease overall odds of entering labor market as a formal employee.
