Abstract:
This paper aims to conduct a thorough historical and current systematization of the academic literature regarding the relationship between public/private ownership of the company and its efficiency. Currently, three different schools of thought concerned with the comparison between private and public company are: a) Theory of Agency/Property Rights; 2) Public Choice Theory; and 3) organization theory.
