Abstract:
The peronist economic policy (1945-1955) increased inflation and the workers nominal and real wages. In this article, we analyse the evolution of wage and prices for two important Argentinian cities: Buenos Aires and Mendoza. Using prices and wages series of skilled and unskilled workers, this paper also analyses the wages and prices differentials between the two cities and their relationship with the cost of living. In addition, the results allow us to evaluate the impact of peronist economic policies on wages and prices, and their previous and subsequent evolution.
