Abstract: The aim of this article is to analyze the relation between the strategies of technological innovation adopted by Argentine manufacturing companies and their export performance in 1998-2005. The results of econometric analysis from a panel data of about 2000 firms found that innovation had positive effects on exports. Export performance of firms not only improved contemporaneously with their innovation decisions but it is also possible to find a lagging positive impact of the investment in innovation during 1998-2001 on the export capabilities observed after the change in the Argentine macroeconomic regime.
