Abstract: A model of differential land rent by fertile county is estimated for Argentina in 1986-2008. Co-integration and panel data methods are applied to the approximately 450 fertile counties throughout Argentina depending on crop. This degree of disaggregation is original for Argentina. A model of distribution of the given agricultural output is applied. The best tested method is Engle and Granger´s Error Correction Method estimated with Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (EGECM-DOLS). Land rent is a function of crop yield, international price (FOB), costs and domestic freight, in that order of importance.
