Abstract:
Introduction. A distinguishing feature of a contemporary high-quality scientific and practical journal is its continuous analysis of information presented to its target readership. The motivation for conducting the content analysis was to uncover the most popular topics in the Spine Surgery journal, which will form the basis for further enhancement of the journal's scientometric indicators. The research aim is to conduct a content analysis of publications using a highly specialized scientific and practical medical publication of clinical focus as an example. Methods. A comprehensive analysis of the types and content of articles published in the Spine Surgery journal from 2018—2022 was conducted. Results and Discussion. 205 publications and 332 submitted scientific article manuscripts were studied. Their themes, evidence level, main trends in the journal's publishing activity that influence its scientometric features and its information demand among the audience were evaluated. Conclusion. Evaluating the current performance of the journal and the articles it publishes allows for planning its future development directions and themes, enhancing the journal's visibility in scientometric databases, and increasing its demand among professionals.
