Abstract:
Any negotiation is a competition of intellect and professionalism; it is also a competition of emotional stamina. The negotiator should pay attention not only to the subject, strategy and organization of the meeting but also to the psychological and emotional aspects during the negotiation. As a rule, the winners are those who can control emotions. The author describes some techniques to avoid emotional overloads and recommends keeping emotional balance at the meeting, lessening tension, using certain linguistic means, choosing some special vocabulary and a number of grammar constructions. The more important and controversial the subject of the discussion is, the more careful you should be with your language and the choice of linguistic means.
