Peculiarities of Teaching a Foreign Language to Advanced Students

Abstract: The article sums up the main distinctive characteristics of advanced students in terms of their knowledge, competencies and psycho-pedagogical peculiarities and considers some specific aspects of work in groups made up of advanced students. The author identifies the problems that teachers face in their work with this category of students, analyses their reasons and gives teachers of advanced students recommendations on how to prepare for classes, select teaching materials and organize the teaching process so that it could be effective, efficient and motivating. The article describes the experience that has been accumulated by the Business English Department of the Foreign Trade Academy in teaching advanced learners.
