Current economic problems of Egypt

Abstract: The article examines the current situation in Egypt, whose economy was seriously damaged by the political turmoil that took place in 2011-2013. Particular attention is paid to the activities of the Egyptian government after taking office as President of the country Abdel Fatah As-Sisi in June 2014. The article analyzes the goals and objectives and also the practical implementation by the Egypt’s authorities of the economic reform program. In this regard, the author focuses on such acute social and economic problems of the country as a high level of public debt and budget deficit; lack of affordable housing; a shortage of power generation capacities and a currency crises.
