Innovations in Finland’s forest cluster

Abstract:
The article deals with the issues of competitiveness of the Finnish forest industry and its export component. The factors influencing the weakening Finnish competitiveness in the forestry sector at the present time are analyzed. Production structure of the Finnish forest industry is shown. The author pays special attention to the development of the Finnish wood processing technologies - biotechnologies, technologies of wooden house-building, pulp and paper and future technologies in the environmental sphere. The author concludes that the Finnish experience in the development of innovations in the forest cluster should be monitored and might be applied in making Russia’s forest industry globally competitive.
