Abstract:
The importance of international transport corridors (ITC) in Russia for the development of the country’s transport complex and its transport services exports with a view to unlock the full transit potential. The analysis of international freight transit in containers since 2005 is carried out and its main indicators and characteristics are defined. The main infrastructure, economic and institutional problems and causes impeding Russia’s transit growth in the main container shipping routes between the Asia-Pacific countries and the European Union are identified. Implementation of the suggested conceptual frameworks should enhance international container transit as an important component of transport services exports and improve the competitiveness of the Russian transport system.
