Abstract: Over the last 25 years Russian maritime ports have increased annually their cargo transshipment volumes. Last year cargo turnover achieved 816.5 Mio tones and Russia nowadays is among four leading countries based on this indicator. Cooperation with 67 maritime ports, long distances, climate conditions require local logisticians to have solid training, use modern technologies and possess the ability to work with a wide range of goods. Large volumes of oil, oil products, and liquefied gases pass through the ports of the country. Russia has managed to improve export oil flows, to operate quite effectively in international markets, which is facilitated by the stable operation of seaports and terminals. The article presents some of the author’s considerations that were presented (and received positive feedback) at a number of specialized conferences.
