Abstract: The paper is devoted to considering the opportunities and risks of Russia’s participation in international trade in services. It is shown that trade in services is the most dynamic segment of international trade. It not only bolters exports, but also makes it more sustainable. Active participation in trade in services accelerates economic growth and stimulates innovation. Special attention is drawn to Russia’s modest position in international trade in services. The causes of the crisis in Russian trade in services in 2014-2016 are analyzed. It is demonstrated that not all the consequences of this crisis have been overcome. Some measures to improve the situation in the domestic trade in services are proposed.
