Abstract: The authors consider the major factors that could have influenced Sino-Russian relations in the gas sector. The contract for the supply of gas from Russia to China was discussed for a rather long time; the parties made great efforts to solve a number of production and commercial problems. For Russia, these deliveries are of significant importance. As a result, a turning point in foreign trade relations towards the east has taken place. The implementation of the gas sales contract will significantly strengthen and expand export-import operations with China, which is the world’s largest exporter and requires the long-tem and steady supply of essential commodities for many years.
