Abstract:
The article discusses the features of implementing the gender aspect in trade agreements. Partly the discussion on trade and sustainable development revolves around the inclusiveness of trade liberalization, including creation of equal opportunities for women. The participation of women in trade consultations and negotiations is a key to ensure that women fully benefit from trade, and that their voices and business interests are taken into account. An increasing number of countries are incorporating gender issues in their trade agreements, albeit in very different ways. Discussions on gender equality in trade agreements mainly concern political rights, social and economic issues.
