Abstract: Russia is considered to be the important and reliable supplier of some mainly large-tonnage mass-produced ferrous and non-ferrous metals to developing countries. At the same time the Russian industrial sector has developed high and very critical dependence on a wide range of imported ores, metallic concentrates, metals and metal products from these countries. Complete refusal to import such products in favour of producing them by proper inner facilities requires enormous efforts and a very long period of time during which other rival countries in this rather competitive market will be quite capable to take the initiative and win a competitive edge. Thus, it is obviously advisable for Russia to continue the struggle for a broad access to mineral resources of the developing countries worldwide with a view to ensuring supply continuity.
