The Evolution of International Sanctions against Russia

Abstract: The article is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the sanctions imposed against Russia over the past decade. The author summarized the forms and instruments of the sanctions restrictions imposed by the United States and the European Union (EU), and also assessed their impact on Russia’s economy. The article also provides a comparative analysis of the US and EU sanctions in terms of their scale and coverage. Particular attention was paid to the analysis of the latest anti-Russian sanctions related to the start of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine. The main contradictions and issues of the current sanctions policy were identified.
