Abstract: The article is devoted to the role of the gas sector in deepening economic cooperation between Russia and the countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The growing demand for gas (in particular, for liquefied natural gas) in the countries of the region is noted. The analysis of the main strategic documents of the Russian Federation (Energy Strategies, Long-term LNG Production Development Program) revealed Russia’s focus on expanding economic cooperation with the Asia-Pacific countries through the export of liquefied natural gas. At present, new opportunities for cooperation between Russia and the Asia-Pacific region in the framework of trade in gas arise. However, new risks are also emerging, caused mainly by geo-economic instability and the post-COVID recovery of the economies.
