Bhutan’s Dependence on Foreign Economies

Abstract: During the global crises, Bhutan experienced a decline in foreign exchange earnings from the tourism sector, a shortage of labor due to the outflow of foreign workers, and rising prices due to disruptions in the supply of imported goods and services. It hit the country’s economy hard. The article is devoted to Bhutan’s foreign trade dependence. The author highlights its general trends, features, negative effects, causes and the major trade partners. The author attempts to analyze Bhutan’s foreign trade dependence in the provision of financial assistance and loans, attracting FDI, the labor market, trade and tourism.
