Abstract: At present, a reorientation of Russia’s foreign economic relations with a change in the geography of suppliers and buyers of goods and services is taking place under fragmentation of world trade. On the one hand, the share of the EU and the US and their allies in Russia’s trade turnover is decreasing, and on the other hand, the share of China, India, Turkey and a number of other developing countries is growing. The formation of a new structure of Russia’s trade and economic relations is accelerated by the deepening confrontation with the collective West, and the division of the world into friendly and unfriendly countries is taken into account. In the first group, the presence of Russian foreign economic agencies is expanding, while the second group is seeing a reduction in diplomatic missions or the closure of trade missions. Mexico belongs to the first group, which was confirmed by the decision of the Government of the Russian Federation to open a trade mission in this country. Taking into account the impact of external factors on the bilateral relations, special attention is paid to the peculiarities of the social and economic transformations taking place in Mexico, its foreign economic potential is revealed, and the current state and prospects for Russian-Mexican trade are assessed.
