Abstract:
The article investigates the reasons for the popularity of strategic development funds as a relatively new class of sovereign investors, identifies the basic requirements for their structure and activities to obtain maximum returns from their creation, and also examines the mechanisms of interaction of such funds with other types of investors in the implementation of one of their key goals – attracting foreign investment. Today, strategic development funds play a key role in creating a competitive and dynamic economy, while they provide decent returns on invested capital. The Russian Direct Investment Fund is an example of a successfully functioning strategic development fund. Thanks largely to its work it was possible to lay a solid foundation for bilateral economic ties with sovereign investors from the Middle East and Asia, which continue to develop despite the current geopolitical tensions.
