International Health Tourism

Alexandru Constantin

International Journal for Responsible Tourism, 2015, vol. 4, issue 1, 59-72

Abstract: This article gives an overview of the current developments in the medical tourism industry. It describes the globalization of medical tourism and argues that the overall increase in the flow of patients and health professionals, and medical technology, capital funding and regulatory regimes across national borders has triggered new patterns of consumption and production of healthcare services. This is illustrated with brief summaries presenting the state of medical tourism in various countries across the globe.
