Poverty Problem in the Framework of Sustainable Development Goals

Abstract: The limited resources that sustainable development treats as the core problem also constitute the main theme it aims to solve. It is the responsibility of the present generation to ensure sustainable development and systematically preserve the natural resources in a deserving manner for the future generation. Eradicating poverty, the first of 17 goals in sustainable development goals, is one of the main economic challenges of many nations. Because sustainable development goals are commitments to the well-being of humanity, it is important that the problem of poverty comes to the top of the agenda. Indeed, poverty is a growing global problem that has existed since time immemorial and has now become a problem not only in developing countries but in developed countries as well. In this study, therefore, the definitions, types, and extent of poverty are discussed in light of the sustainable development goals within the context of Turkey and the world based on numerical data from international organizations.
