TEACHING ABILITIES OF GERMAN TEACHER CANDIDATES

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to determine the level of teaching competence of the senior students at Çukurova University, Faculty of Education, German Teaching Department. The named students go to secondary or high schools to transfer their teaching abilities into practice during the eighth term of their education. Thus, the level of their teaching competence is aimed to be stated in the seventh term. Survey is the method used in this research. The survey has been applied on the senior students of Çukurova University, Faculty of Education, German Teaching Department. Since most of the senior students have been included in this study, an additional sample study hasn’t been done. The criterion used in this study is based on the one used in methodology. Forty-one skills have been established in this respect. The named skills have been classified under the headings subject sufficiency, planning, timing, class management, communication, measurement and evaluation. Twenty-two students have been observed by ten mentor teachers at Mehmet Özöncel Anatolian High School, ÇEAŞ Anatolian High School, İsmail Sefa Özler Anatolian High School, Seyhan Rotary Anatolian High School and Piri Reis Anatolian High School, where they do their apprenticeship. After observing the presentatitions, mentor teachers have filled in the necessary forms to get data. The named data have been analysed by using SPSS program. Through the analyses, the level of teaching competence of the students has been established.
