Abstract:
: Comparative education is a science field consists of studies which aim to determine the similarities and differences between education systems of countries and suggest solution ways for similar problems. For developing and competing in international area, it is really important for Turkey to look into the education systems in developed countries and consider them towards Turkey’s needs. The purpose of this research is to determine the situation of comparative education dissertations in Turkey by analyzing the postgraduate dissertations about comparative education written in 2000-2010 years at Turkey. In this context, the data of research was collected by documentary review and the collected data was analyzed by descriptive methods. Accordingly, the dissertations were analyzed in terms of years, comparison areas and countries, comparative education approaches and data collection techniques. As a result, we can say that most of dissertations were studied in MA level and comparisons are mostly about primary education and EU countries, horizontal approach and documentary review are most common techniques used in comparative education dissertations in Turkey.
