MANAGER’S PERCEPTIONS AND USING GOALS OF STRATEGIC TOOLS IN BUSINESS

Abstract:
This study aims at identifying strategic tools used by administrators during strategic management process and determining when and how they are used as well as the rationale lying behind these decisions and motivational factors playing a role in the process. The study deals with Eskişehir-located companies listed in “500 Largest Turkish Companies” published by “İstanbul Chamber of Commerce” in 2007. The data was collected through face-to-face interviews with executives of these companies. The data obtained was analyzed through qualitative data analysis methods following proper documentation process. The analysis revealed that administrators use these tools very often by adapting them to their own structures. Finally, it was found that managers are quite satisfied with the tools they use and the success level achieved regarding these uses.
