VIEWPOINTS OF PRE-SERVICE COMPUTER TEACHERS ON THE ADVANTAGEOUS OF SCHOOL PRACTICUM COURSES

Abstract: In teacher education, practicum courses can be claimed to be important in teacher training. In this context, determination of pre-service computer teachers’ viewpoints about practicum education (course) will be helpful on the improvement of the process. The aim of this study is to determine viewpoints of pre-service computer teachers on the advantageous of school practicum courses. Participants of the study were 11 pre-service computer teachers at the Department of Computer and Instructional Technologies of Anadolu University. This research was carried out according to qualitative research processes and semi structured interview technique was used. Data was analyzed by inductive analysis. According to results, it can be stated that pre-service computer teachers’ stated positive views about school practicum courses in general, they stated that these courses prepared themselves to the profession and made them experience the profession, and these courses made them benefit from field knowledge of computer on materiel preparation and course giving, at the same time they thought that these courses made them realize personal rights and responsibilities of teaching profession and it affected their viewpoints about profession positively. However pre-service computer teachers have some suggestions about the process such as; extending the practicum course period and using micro-teaching techniques
