Abstract: В этой статье мы исследуем относительное состояние кредитных и деловых циклов в Казахстане. Во-первых, мы определяем фазы расширения и спада экономических циклов и сравниваем их с колебаниями кредитного цикла. Мы обнаруживаем, что современная история денежного обращения в Казахстане демонстрирует четкий структурный сдвиг режима предложения банковских кредитов после финансового кризиса. В целом мы утверждаем, что средняя продолжительность кредитного цикла длиннее, чем продолжительность делового цикла. Таким образом, мы вносим вклад в надежную эмпирическую оценку разрыва между кредитом и ВВП в развивающейся экономике. // In this paper we investigate the relative stance of credit and business cycles in Kazakhstan. First, we define expansion and recession phases of economic cycles, and compare them to credit cycle fluctuations. We find that modern monetary history in Kazakhstan exhibits clear structural shift of bank loan supply regime in the aftermath of the Financial Crisis. Overall, we argue that the average length of the credit cycle is longer than that of a business cycle. As such, we add important contribution to the reliable empirical estimation of credit-to-GDP gap in a developing economy.
