Abstract:
Industry 4.0 is celebrated in Thailand as the next level of economic success for their country. The concept is also called Thailand 4.0 to emphasize that for the adapted Thai version of Industry 4.0, Creativity and Innovation are defined as main targets. The problem with Thailand 4.0 is that in the whole discussion, the preconditions and consequences that this change needs in order to be successful are somehow neglected, ignored or unfortunately played down. Successful implementation of Thailand 4.0 requires leaders and with them a certain mindset and behavior so that they are equipped to transform and motivate employees in the direction of Creativity and Innovation. Leadership is also embedded in the predominant culture of any society and can support or block change. Fifteen leaders, Thais and foreigners, were interviewed for this study to understand how prepared leaders are for Thailand 4.0 and their shift towards creativity and innovation.
