Abstract:
Over the past few years, numerous amounts of research have been conducted to determine on what basis do individuals prefer their music. However, the music individuals listen to is majorly connected the emotions the feel, the situations they are in & the activities they are performing. This research aims at (a)understanding the music preferences of individuals in different situations (b)understanding the music preferences of college going students. The results showed that in situations which involved high-attention work soft and New-Age music was preferred most by the subjects whereas in situations which required low-attention more upbeat & popular music was preferred. The total music preferred the most by the subjects was Pop in most situations
