Abstract: At a recent Regional Science Association International meeting, the presidential address suggested that the future ofRegional Science is tied to 1) acceptance by business and government and 2) curriculum developments that makeregional science more appropriate for students considering careers in business and government.Our field needs to grow in size if it expects to embrace new cohorts of students and new public and private researchdemands. Through three exemples, Portugal, the United Kingdom and the United States, we will be concerned withseveral beachheads that regional scientists might want to consider taking and holding to assure that our science iseffectively represented in the University curriculum.
