Abstract: The article presents an analysis of the experience in the creation of academic student theatre in English at Lesosibirsk School of Education ? SibFU Branch. The materials of the research are theoretical categories of the research problem and experimental data obtained in the course of the work. It has been proved that the academic student theatre has its own specifics, which is due to both the originality of non-professional theatre as a whole, and the essential characteristics of higher professional pedagogical education. The article presents the facts confirming the effectiveness and expediency of the academic theatre in English in the system of higher pedagogical education. The implemented Methods of the research consist of questionnaires, content analysis and interpretation allowed ensuring the validity of the work. The purpose of the work is to identify the specifics of this kind of theatre and identify opportunities for theatre participants and spectators in the context of a meeting with the “different†culture. Moreover, the essential difference between professional and non-professional theatre in terms of goal-setting, functions and results is revealed.
