Abstract: In the current conditions of the economic development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the energy sector is one of the most important directions of the national economy, which is undoubted interest for conducting research in the field of sectoral economics. In this article, is given a literature review of domestic and foreign authors, which conducted research on the development and improvement of the management of the energy system. The article explores one of the topical problems - reforming and modernizing Kazakhstan’s energy sector. The characteristic regularities and features of the republic’s energy system are shown. The authors of the article conducted a study of Kazakhstan’s energy industry in various aspects of sectoral management, including energy security. As a result of the studies, the theoretical and methodological aspects of the study of the management of the national economy are systematized, on the basis of which conclusions are drawn.
