Abstract: European education has witnessed major transformations in the last decades, influenced by the international and natioall changes strongly marked by the manifestation of the global economic crisis. Education and training play a key role in the economic activity in that it represents an important objective in the context of the implementation of the Bologna process in Romania. The aim of this study is to provide a profound understanding on the role that education plays on the knowledge society through educational and training policies expressed both at the European Union level and at that of Member States.
