Abstract:
Following the phenomenon of globalization, the business environment is subject to current challenges, challenges in which competitiveness is the determining element of the sustainability and profitability of any business. The purpose of this paper is to acquire the concept of competitiveness at national business level, as well as the approach to competitiveness at European Union and international level. The existence of a stable macroeconomic and financial framework is a precondition for creating a favorable ground for affirming the competitive potential of the business environment. Therefore, in this paper we aim not only to mention the concepts, the tendencies of competitiveness at national and international level, but especially a detail of the competitiveness indicators, as well as the principles that govern the competitiveness, the pillar of development and sustainability of the business environment.
