Abstract:
World economy, including oil market trends, has recorded a stable growth in the last several years. New economic world power countries, which are considerably influencing the production and consumption of oil, consequently the supply and demand for tanker ship capacities, are entering the market. World tanker shipping trade market is a part of global market, and as such extremely dynamic and exposed to many influences. In this sense, the analysis and prognosis of supply and demand for the tanker ship capacities is of an extreme importance. In order to foresee future trends in the world tanker market, a linear function is used as a determinant for the expected dynamics of trends of the analyzed variables. Due to the turbulent nature of this market, the prognosis is limited until 2010, as a broader period of analysis would result in unreliable data. Finally, the results of the research indicate a minor increase in supply and demand in the world tanker trade during the researched period, thus showing a decreased importance of the alternative types of tanker shipping trade capacities exploitation.
