Abstract:
A tourist destination can be viewed as a country, region, city or village visited by tourists, but it must also be taken into account that it is an area used by their residents and work population throughout the year, so it is very important to achieve harmony between the local population and tourists. So far, the research conducted in this field has defined the concept of tourist destination in a different way. This paper, apart from systematic approach to the existing knowledge of criteria and types of destination, introduces the 13th criterion and the type of tourist destination - the health destination. The health destination with its characteristics creates a common tourism product with higher added value by combining health and wellness services and at the same time reduces the fear of the local population from saturation of natural and social resources.
