Management and provision of the region economic security: a conceptual aspect

Abstract: Modern trends studying the regions’ economic security in Russia are a relatively new area of scientific knowledge, as well as the conceptual apparatus being their basis. In particular, researchers generally use concepts such as economic security “management” and “provision”, without having a clear idea of their similarities and differences. This article provides examples of the context the authors apply these definitions and the characteristics they endow. In addition, these concepts are analyzed in terms of the categories on which they rely, as well as the functional parts that form each of them. Based on the conducted research, the work presents the result of a comparative analysis of definitions and their components, such as goals, objects, methods and mechanisms. It is revealed that there are no significant differences in the concepts and they are used to describe the same process in the framework of the management of the economic security of the region. At the same time, for future research and in order to delineate the concepts of “security” can be used as a target parameter of the “security management” function.
