Abstract:
The article explores film adaptation as a special form of literary text. The study examines the concept of film adaptation, its classification and features of types, “strengths” and “weaknesses” of this format. It also characterizes the problems that arise when transferring literary works to the cinema screen, around which discussions do not stop to this day. The study of the identified issues is carried out not only in theory, but also in practice, which is presented in the form of a comparison of the novel by I. A. Goncharov “Oblomov” (1847–1859) and the film by N. S. Mikhalkov “A few days from the life of I. I. Oblomov” (1979). In addition to identifying the differences between the original novel and the film, expressed in deviation from following the literary text, changing individual scenes, added and removed episodes, and changing the images of the characters in the book source, the creative task set by the filmmakers is determined. The main research methods are the analysis of scientific literature and comparative analysis. As a result of the comparative and comparative analysis, a conclusion is made that contains answers to the questions: which type of film adaptation this film belongs to, what it is expressed in, and the reasons that led to this result are identified.
