A portrait of an ideal motor transport driver as a component of the performance assessment by the standard reference method

Abstract:
The results of the economic activity of motor transport enterprises largely depend on the fulfillment of their work duties by drivers who interact with users of transport services: passengers, shippers, and consignees. The peculiarities of drivers’ work place high demands on their professionalism, ability to adapt to the situation, and other psychophysiologically significant qualities. The scientific task is to form a portrait of the ideal driver of motor transport based on the identified aspects of driver’s labour that are important for users of transport services. The information based on the study was the works of scientists in the field of transport and economics, as well as the results of a survey conducted among users of transport services in the Omsk region. The article presents and analyzes the results of the survey, presents and ranks the most important indicators of drivers’ labor activity according to the oppinions of transport services users. Based on the conducted research, the top 10 characteristics of the ideal public transport driver, passenger taxis, as well as drivers engaged in freight and intercity/international passenger transportation, are formulated, which can form the basis for evaluating the performance of drivers using the benchmark method. The resume market of drivers of motor transport in the Omsk region is analyzed to identify the compliance of their personal qualities and other characteristics with the requirements of users of transport services
