Abstract:
In the era of short videos, platforms such as Douyin and TikTok have greatly impacted the field of dance education. The rise of viral dance challenges has made dance more accessible to the general public, breaking down barriers and bringing it into mainstream culture. This paper explores how dance education can "break out of the circle" by leveraging the popularity of viral dances, transitioning from entertainment-driven trends to more professional and structured dance training. It discusses the complementary relationship between viral dances and traditional dance education, highlighting the potential for short video platforms to act as a bridge for engaging a wider audience and introducing them to formal dance education. The paper also examines the challenges of maintaining artistic and technical integrity in the face of entertainment trends, while considering how dance education can evolve in the digital age.
