Abstract:
This study employs CiteSpace and bibliometric analysis to examine 2,137 publications related to carbon finance indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection between 2009 and 2024. The results reveal a rapid expansion of research in this field over recent years. The most prolific international authors include Matteo Gazzani, Ennio Macchi, and Giampaolo Manzolini, each contributing six papers. Strong international collaboration is observed, with leading institutions primarily based in China, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Current major research themes focus on green finance, CO 2 and carbon emissions, economic growth, and renewable energy. Emerging research frontiers are likely to concentrate on renewable energy and digital finance. By systematically tracing the evolution and future trajectory of carbon finance research, this study offers valuable insights for scholars and policymakers and provides meaningful implications for promoting global carbon emission reduction efforts.
