Abstract:
As a distinguished national intangible cultural heritage, Sichuan Opera currently faces significant contemporary challenges, including an increasingly aging audience demographic, limited cultural awareness among younger generations, persistently low penetration rates within higher education institutions, and notable gaps in systematic campus dissemination. To address these critical issues, this study focuses on the profound cultural communication value inherent in universities and proposes a comprehensive, four-pronged promotion strategy achieved through systematic documentation and structural integration. First, it advocates for robust curriculum development through interactive first, second, and third classrooms, supported by formal credit incentives to maximize student engagement. Second, it emphasizes dynamic event organization via dedicated cultural festivals and student club performances to foster an immersive campus atmosphere. Third, the strategy highlights innovative media outreach utilizing bilingual WeChat accounts and the specialized radio program "Sichuan Opera Audio Collection" to broaden digital accessibility. Finally, it underscores practical implementation through targeted community service initiatives that connect students with local heritage practitioners. Ultimately, this self-sustaining cultural ecosystem achieves profound three-dimensional impacts: it significantly enhances youth cultural identity and cross-cultural competence, enriches the overall cultural diversity of the academic environment, and explores highly effective new models for intangible cultural heritage preservation in higher education. The findings of this research provide exemplary, scalable references not only for the specific preservation of Sichuan Opera but also for the broader, global conservation of intangible cultural heritage in modern educational settings.
