Research on Children's Picture Book Creation and Market Promotion Strategies under Changing Audience Demands

Xiaowen Qin

GBP Proceedings Series, 2026, vol. 32, 49-55

Abstract: Against the backdrop of rapid shifts in the socioeconomic landscape and evolving family education philosophies, audience demand for children's picture books is undergoing a profound and multifaceted transformation. This study centers on the adaptation of children's picture book creation and marketing strategies in response to these evolving audience needs. Adopting a theoretical perspective of demand transition, the research systematically analyzes changing trends among parents and children in three critical dimensions: aesthetic preferences, cultural identity, and interactive experience. It further explores comprehensive response strategies for creators concerning thematic content innovation, visual design enhancement, and age-segmented development, alongside innovative marketing approaches for publishers targeting precise market positioning, digital communication channels, and long-term brand building. On this basis, the research constructs a coordination mechanism that effectively links creation and marketing, emphasizing audience feedback as a central driving force for continuous content iteration and quality improvement. Finally, optimization suggestions are proposed regarding the advancement of original creative capacity, strengthened industrial collaboration across the publishing value chain, and a balanced approach to internationalization. These recommendations aim to provide actionable references for the high-quality and sustainable development of China's domestic picture book industry in an increasingly competitive global market.
