Research on the Distribution Dynamics and Regional Differences of China's Rural Revitalization Level

GBP Proceedings Series, 2025, vol. 6, 77-88

Abstract: Based on the overall requirements of the rural revitalization strategy, a comprehensive evaluation index system for rural revitalization is constructed. The kernel density estimation method is used to analyze the dynamic evolution of China's rural revitalization level (RRL), and the Theil index is used to decompose the regional differences in China's RRL. Research has found that: (1) The RRL in China is generally low and shows great variation, with significant regional imbalances and lack of coordination in the RRL of the eight major comprehensive economic zones. (2) The relative differences in RRL across the country, as well as in the northern coastal areas and southwestern regions, are narrowing, but the absolute gap is widening. (3) The overall difference in RRL in the country comes from regional and intra-regional differences, with intra-regional differences observed in the middle Yellow River, the northern coast, the southwestern region, and the southern coast. The research conclusion provides important policy basis for comprehensively promoting the rural revitalization strategy.
