Traditional Chinese Qigong Therapy for Neck Pain and Functional Impairment in Cervical Spondylosis Patients: A Systematic Review

Abstract:
Cervical spondylosis is a common degenerative condition of the cervical spine characterized by neck pain and functional impairment, which significantly compromises patients'quality of life. Traditional Chinese Qigong practices, including Baduanjin, Yijinjing, and Wuqinxi, are increasingly recognized as promising non-pharmacological interventions for alleviating pain and enhancing cervical function. Despite increasing clinical interest, the efficacy and safety of these traditional exercises have not yet been systematically evaluated. This review systematically synthesizes recent randomized controlled trials and clinical studies to assess the therapeutic effects of Traditional Chinese Qigong on neck pain and functional disability in patients with cervical spondylosis. Additionally, it explores the underlying mechanisms, optimal intervention duration, and safety profiles of these practices. By synthesizing current evidence, this review aims to provide an evidence-based foundation to guide clinical rehabilitation strategies and promote the integration of Traditional Chinese Qigong into comprehensive management plans for cervical spondylosis.
