Abstract: We use intermediary effect models to analyze the relation between marketization and energy efficiency and its mechanism, using panel data on 30 provinces in China from 2010 to 2018. The results show that marketization can significantly promote energy efficiency. We further demonstrate that upgrading the industrial structure plays a significant intermediary role in this process.
