Abstract:
In 1846 Marx and Proudhon are exchanging one very significant correspondence. As a consequence, Marx’s admiration for Proudhon changes into hate. Proudhon was very skeptical about Marx and Engels’ initiatives to organize a solidarity network among disparate socialist and communist movements across Europe. Our study aims at analyzing the political and theoretical consequences of Marx’s reading of Proudhon’s works and particularly his Philosophy of Misery. Criticisms Marx addresses to Proudhon harbor important developments on the nature of scientific approach.
