Facility planning in emerging markets

Renuka Rajagopal

Corporate Real Estate Journal, 2015, vol. 4, issue 4, 353-364

Abstract: The construction industry and its related activities has emerged as one of the largest employment sectors over the last several years in many emerging countries. Many established multinational organisations have set up large-scale operations across major cities in emerging countries. Over the years, established and new organisations continue to explore and move into new emerging cities and nations as part of their ongoing 3–5-year strategic business initiatives. Facility planning and implementation continue to explore, evolve and mature through this journey. This paper explores several universal categories that it is essential to consider when looking at setting up facilities, buying or leasing, new build and operations in new cities.
