Abstract:
The paper considers the changing face of office and workplace provision in light of the trend towards well-being initiatives and the effects of these on occupiers and their employees. As organisations strive to improve the physical and mental health of staff in visible and effective ways, there needs to be a recognition of how the landscape will change at the outset of a workplace provision project. This will be unchartered territory for some companies and the cost/benefit link remains to be fully proven. The paper sets out a range of considerations that aim to illustrate the importance of being prepared for change and poses some questions about the longer-term implications of adopting a healthy ethos for employers and staff as a core principle.
